Leadership
Matthew Brown
Matthew Brown is Chairman and General Partner of Energent, L.P. He leads the firm’s investment activities across energy and infrastructure, transportation, private investments, credit and leasing, real estate and other strategic opportunities. His responsibilities include investment strategy, transaction origination, underwriting, structuring, capital deployment, portfolio oversight and the development of long-term strategic relationships.
Brown has particular experience across renewable and alternative energy, conventional energy infrastructure, power generation, contracted-revenue assets, financing, transportation and logistics, structured credit and equipment finance. He works alongside Energent, L.P.’s broader investment and operating platform in evaluating complex transactions where active ownership, specialized industry knowledge and flexible capital can create long-term value.
Brown attended Texas Christian University (TCU) in Fort Worth, Texas. He also serves as General Partner of the Gas Gang Group of Companies.
Shane Starr
Shane Starr is a General Partner of Energent, L.P. He oversees significant portions of the firm’s investment and transaction activities, including hospitality, real estate, healthcare and medical technology, as well as domestic and international acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures financings and strategic partnerships.
Shane has extensive experience across financial products and complex financing structures, including public infrastructure districts, municipal and project-related bonds, structured finance, debt and equity financings and other public- and private-sector capital structures. His experience includes evaluating and structuring financing solutions for infrastructure, real estate, development and other asset-intensive projects.
Shane is actively involved in the evaluation, structuring, execution and oversight of investments across the platform of Energent, L.P., working with management teams, operating partners, professional advisers, counterparties, public-sector stakeholders and financing sources throughout the investment lifecycle.

The General Partners are supported by a multidisciplinary and investment operating platform of personnel spanning acquisitions, investment analysis, finance, accounting, development, operations, strategy, asset management, transaction execution, legal, regulatory, compliance and administrative functions.
