Executive Management Team

Energent, L.P.’s management team brings decades of multidisciplinary expertise across transportation, medicine, medical devices, renewable energy, real estate, distressed credit, hospitality, infrastructure and leasing. This collective knowledge is strengthened by a proven track record in independent power transactions, complex regulatory frameworks, public policy and strategic investments.

The team is further supported by an extended network of operating partners, portfolio company executives and industry specialists, enabling Energent to combine strategic insight with hands-on execution. This integrated approach ensures the firm can originate, structure and manage opportunities across diverse sectors while maintaining the discipline and discretion required of a global asset manager.

Leadership Emeritus

Shane Starr previously served as General Partner of Energent, L.P. He oversaw significant portions of the firm’s investment and transaction activities, including hospitality, real estate, healthcare and medical technology, as well as domestic and international acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures financings and strategic partnerships.

Starr remains a Strategic Advisor.

Ben Nelson served as President and Chief Compliance Officer of Energent, L.P. from 2017 to 2019. He was instrumental in the fund’s formation, coordinated with its legal, regulatory and other service providers, and helped build the platform on which Energent operates today. During his tenure, Nelson also helped guide Energent’s transition from a registered investment adviser structure to a privately capitalized family-office model, including the corresponding changes to the firm’s compliance, governance and regulatory framework under applicable federal and state securities laws.

Nelson has ~35 years of experience, including ~10 years with the Ray L. Hunt family as General Counsel to the Hunt family private equity arm.

Leadership

Energent L.P.'s expanded leadership and support teams will be formally announced in December 2026. Team members are currently working through the transition and becoming familiar with the firm’s operations, priorities and their respective responsibilities. During this period, Energent is also updating its investment materials and preparing future Form ADV filings to reflect the transition and comply with applicable federal securities laws and regulations.

Matthew Brown is Chairman Emeritus of Energent, L.P. and previously served as a General Partner of the firm. During his tenure as General Partner, he led Energent’s activities across energy and infrastructure, transportation, private investments, credit and leasing, real estate and other strategic opportunities. His responsibilities included transaction origination, underwriting and structuring, capital deployment, portfolio oversight and the development of long-term strategic relationships.

As Chairman Emeritus, Brown remains involved in the firm’s corporate strategy, organizational development, operating initiatives and long-term strategic relationships. He does not participate in securities offerings, fundraising, investment decisions or the purchase or sale of securities on behalf of Energent or its affiliated investment vehicles.

Tristen York serves as President of Energent, L.P., overseeing the firm’s operations, investment activities and strategic direction. He attended the University of Melbourne in Australia before working at the Bank of England in the United Kingdom.

As President, York is responsible for Energent’s securities-related activities, including investment decisions, capital formation, transaction structuring, securities offerings and execution. He also oversees the firm’s investment personnel, institutional relationships and day-to-day management.

York divides his time between New York and the United Kingdom.

The General Partners are supported by a multidisciplinary and investment operating platform of personnel spanning acquisitions, investment analysis, finance, accounting, development, operations, strategy, asset management, transaction execution, legal, regulatory, compliance and administrative functions.

Energent, L.P. supplements its internal capabilities with operating partners, executives, advisers, industry specialists, technical consultants, legal counsel, accounting professionals, administrators and other institutional resources selected according to the requirements of individual investments and projects. This model allows Energent, L.P. to assemble specialized teams around complex transactions while maintaining the flexibility and direct decision-making structure of a privately held investment firm and family office.

Across the investment lifecycle, these resources support opportunity sourcing, due diligence, underwriting, structuring, financing, transaction execution, development, operational improvement, portfolio oversight, risk management, compliance and realization.

Jeff Shorter supports operations, development, strategic initiatives and project execution across the activities of Energent, L.P., working with the General Partners, portfolio companies, operating partners, developers and other transaction participants.

Executive Advisory Committee

The Executive Advisory Committee provides additional perspective and strategic guidance to the General Partners and the broader platform of Energent, L.P. The firm’s advisory function was previously supported by Nick Pastushan and Mario Escano, whose experience, counsel and contributions helped shape Energent’s development and strategic initiatives. Carl Weatherley-White, Ram Ambatipudi, Bruce Tang and Rishad Olpadwala also provided valuable insight and support, contributing to the firm’s strategic direction, institutional relationships and coordination with third-party service providers.

In December 2026, Energent will formally implement the Executive Advisory Committee alongside its broader leadership expansion. Members will contribute experience, relationships and specialized knowledge relevant to the firm’s investments, businesses and strategic initiatives, providing an additional resource to the General Partners and the firm’s expanded leadership team.
